Hammer Mill Screen for Feed Grinding | 304/316L Stainless Steel
Hammer Mill Screen for Feed Grinding – Stainless Steel Perforated Milling Screen
In feed manufacturing, the hammer mill screen is the single component that decides your final particle size, throughput, and energy cost. A worn or poorly matched screen doesn't just slow production—it quietly raises your cost per ton. DXR's stainless steel hammer mill screens are engineered for feed mills, pet food plants, aquaculture feed factories, and grain processing lines that need consistent particle control and long service life in humid, corrosive conditions.
Built for Feed Mill Reality
Feed grinding isn't like grinding dry minerals. Corn, soybean meal, wheat bran, and forage carry moisture, organic acids, and abrasive fiber. Under those conditions, mild steel screens rust and fail fast. Our screens are manufactured from AISI 304 or AISI 316L stainless steel, delivering:
- Corrosion resistance against moisture and feed additives
- Food-grade safety for direct contact with animal feed and pet food
- Extended service life in wet or humid milling environments
- Stable aperture tolerance (±0.05 mm) for uniform particle size
Applications Across Feed Processing
| Application | Typical Aperture | Recommended Material |
| Poultry feed (fine grinding) | 0.8 - 2.0 mm | 304 Stainless Steel |
| Aquaculture & shrimp feed | 0.5 - 1.2 mm | 316L Stainless Steel |
| Pig feed (medium grind) | 2.0 - 3.5 mm | 304 Stainless Steel |
| Cattle & sheep feed (coarse) | 4.0 - 8.0 mm | 304 Stainless Steel |
| Pet food & kibble production | 1.5 - 4.0 mm | 316L Stainless Steel |
Precision Perforation, Optimized Open Area
We use CNC punching and advanced perforation tooling to deliver:
Smaller holes produce finer particles for poultry and aquaculture feed; larger holes increase throughput for coarse cattle and sheep feed. We help you match aperture to your target micron output.
Reduce Downtime, Protect Throughput
A poorly performing screen forces material to recirculate inside the grinding chamber, generating heat, wasting energy, and accelerating hammer wear. Our screens are designed to discharge correctly-sized particles quickly, keeping your mill cool and productive. Quick-change design shortens replacement time to minutes, not hours.

FAQ
Match aperture to your target particle size. Finer feeds (poultry, aquaculture) need 0.5–2.0 mm; coarse ruminant feeds use 4-8 mm. We can advise based on your formula and mill RPM.
If your feed carries high moisture, salt (aquaculture), or acidic additives, 316L's molybdenum content resists pitting corrosion far better. For dry corn/soy grinding, 304 is cost-effective and sufficient.
In humid or corrosive feed processing, stainless steel typically lasts 2–3× longer than carbon steel, offsetting the higher initial cost through reduced downtime and fewer replacements.
Yes. Send us your current screen or a technical drawing with curvature radius, aperture, thickness, and mounting hole positions. We manufacture to your exact fit.
