Dutch weave wire mesh is manufactured using different wire diameters and wire arrangements in the warp and weft directions. This produces a dense woven structure with narrow, tortuous flow paths rather than the regular square openings commonly found in plain weave wire mesh.
In liquid filtration, particle retention depends on the woven structure, the characteristics of the particles, the liquid properties and the operating conditions. For this reason, Dutch weave filter cloth should be selected according to the required separation performance rather than mesh count alone.
It can be considered for filtration processes where conventional square-opening wire mesh does not meet the required particle retention or filtration requirements.
