In the wire mesh industry, plain steel – or carbon steel, as it sometimes referred to—is a very popular metal that is commonly manufactured in both woven and welded wire mesh specifications. It is primarily composed of iron (Fe) with a small amount of carbon (C). It is a relatively low-cost option that is versatile and widespread in its use.

Plain steel wire mesh – available from stock or through custom manufacturing – is strong, durable and magnetic. Oftentimes, it is dark in color, particularly when compared to bright aluminum or stainless steel meshes. Plain steel does not resist corrosion and will rust in most atmospheric conditions; because of this, in certain industries, plain steel wire mesh is a disposable item.

Electro-galvanized: Basic anti-corrosion, suitable for indoor dry environments
Hot-dip galvanized: Thick zinc layer, excellent rust resistance for outdoor and humid conditions
PVC coated: Colorful plastic coating, enhanced anti-oxidation and anti-scratch performance

Characteristics of stainless steel wire mesh
Good corrosion resistance: Stainless steel wire mesh is made of stainless steel, which has good corrosion resistance and can be used in harsh environments such as humidity and acid and alkali for a long time.
High strength: The stainless steel wire mesh has been specially processed to have high strength and wear resistance, and is not easy to deform and break.
Smooth and flat: The surface of the stainless steel wire mesh is polished, smooth and flat, not easy to adhere to dust and sundries, easy to clean and maintain.
Good air permeability: The stainless steel wire mesh has uniform pore size and good air permeability, suitable for applications such as filtration, screening and ventilation.
