The filtration rating depends on mesh count and wire diameter. A finer mesh with smaller wire diameter produces a lower micron rating, while a coarser mesh provides higher flow and easier cleaning.
SS304 plain weave mesh offers a practical balance of corrosion resistance and mechanical strength for general filtration. SS316L provides higher resistance to chlorides, marine environments, and elevated temperatures, making it suitable for chemical processing, pharmaceutical production, and offshore applications.

Plain Weave vs Twilled Weave
Choose plain weave when you need uniform apertures, easy cleaning, and predictable flow. Choose twilled weave when you need a finer filtration rating at the same wire diameter, or when the application requires higher dirt-holding capacity. Plain weave is generally easier to inspect and reuse, while twilled weave is denser but more difficult to clean.
